Fluid governors; fluid relays.-A marine-engine governor comprises a water-box 8 containing a diaphragm 9 directly subjected on one side to the sea pressure at the forward end of the ship, and on the other side to the sea pressure at the after end of the ship, the diaphragm serving to operate the pilot valve 6 of a steam relay the piston 5 of which operates the throttle valve of the engines, thereby anticipating racing. The diaphragm is connected by the rod 15 to a floating lever 14, which is connected to the pivoted throttle valve lever 12 by the link 17, and to the pilot valve 6 by the rod 7, the linkage construction constituting a valve-centring device. Electro - magnetic trammission mechanism may be employed.
