Abstract

Phonographic apparatus; reel and endlessweb apparatus.-An advertising apparatus comprises an advertising strip and a phonograph, which co-operate with each other, provided with a clutch mechanism d, situated upon the shaft of one of the strip-bearing rollers and controlled by the movement of the strip itself. A clockwork mechanism c, Fig. 2, drives a cam e<3>, which closes a switch e' and starts a motor a, which drives the disk of a phonograph b<1> and a roller c<1> of a reel-and-web apparatus through worm and bevel gearing. One of the stops c<9>, Fig. 4, provided for each advertisement on the web c, moves a pivoted finger d<4> with a controlling spring d<5> so as to rock a lever d<2> about its pivot d' and move a clutch d along its feather on the shaft c<3> out of engagement with a loosely riding bevel-wheel c<8>, thereby stopping the shaft c<3>, the reel c<1> and web c. The motor a continues to drive the phonograph until the cam e<3> breaks contact at the switch c<1>. The whole apparatus remains at rest until the clockwork c has rotated a wheel e<5> of insulating- material, provided with conducting-studs e<6> so as to bring a stud e<6> into contact with a brush e<13> and excite a magnet d<8>, which pulls the lever d<2> and clutch back again into the driving position for the clutch. The tappet e<9> on the web, which was the last to be operated, then slips past the finger d<4>, and the operation is repeated.
