Abstract

6453. Lourdin, L. M. G. May 23, 1912, [Convention date]. [Addition to 27,287/11.] Search-lights and vehicular lamps, directing. -Relates to the apparatus described in the parent Specification for turning the headlights or search-lights about their horizontal and vertical axes simultaneously by means of a single handle connected to the lamp by cables, and consists of special devices for operating the cables. The cables 9, 10 that control the horizontal trunnions of the lamp are connected to a pulley 19 mounted in a fixed fork 18 secured to a fixed support by a bolt 16. The operating- handle 24 is pivoted at 26 in a fork 29 in the pulley, so that only the vertical movements of it turn the pulley. A pulley 22, to which the cables 14, 15 for controlling the vertical pivot of the lamp are secured, is carried by a frame 27 pivoted at 21 on the fork 18, and the handle 24 works in a vertical slot 28 in the frame 27 so that only its horizontal movements turn the pulley 22. The pulleys have substantially a common centre. One of each pair of cables may be replaced by a spring fixed at one end. According to a modification, one of the pulleys is dispensed with and is replaced by a sleeve 34, Fig. 6, carried by the other pulley, and the corresponding cables are replaced by a single cable connected directly to the handle 33, which slides in the sleeve 34. The other end of this cable passes over a pinion 35 on the trunnions of the lamp, and is connected to a spring 36.
