Abstract

26,343. Latham, W. Nov. 16. Helical springs. - Consists in forming couplings for the two parts of a cultivator, rake, or like tine or tine-carrying arm of closely coiled helical springs screwed or fitted tightly on the ends of the two parts or bolted to flanges on them. The section of the spring shown in Fig. 5 is such that screw-threaded necks 5 on the tine or arm may be screwed into them. The ends 8 of the spring may be bent to fit into slots in collars 3, 4 fixed on the tine or arm by screws or pins 10. The collars 3, 4 may be connected by eye-bolts 20, 21, Fig. 3, linked together. The spring shown in Fig. 7 has heads 11 which pass through slots in collars 12 and are clamped to plain necks 5 by set-screws 13. Fig. 9 shows flanges 18 on the two parts of the tine connected by four springs 17.
