Abstract

9489. Hardy, G. H. April 22. Rotary - tube fans; casings. -The impeller of a centrifugal fan is formed with a central inlet chamber H, Fig. IV., from which passages M, radial or inclined, lead to a diffusion space D formed by providing a peripheral groove in the impeller. A block A, Fig. VII., projects within a portion of the groove D and forms therewith a volute space from which the fluid is led to an outlet in the usual manner. The application of the invention to a carburetting-apparatus is shown in Fig. IX., in which two impellers in a single casing Tare formed from one disk with a central milling- chamber. The compressed air from the two fans pass through outlets D<1>, D<2> to a common pipe P<1> leading to the milling-chamber, the air passing from D<2> being carburetted in a vessel V. The mixed pure air and carburetted air is drawn off by a pipe P<2>. Specification 4036/10 is referred to.
