Mounting and supporting.-In a plant comprising two electric generators b rigidly secured to a turbine a, injurious tensile stresses arising from the movements of the outlet pipe c of the turbine due to the varying temperature are obviated by mounting the generator members b so that they are free to move in all directions, for example by means of springs f housed in boxes g rigidly secured to the foundation. The outlet pipe c, which supports the turbine, leads to a condenser d and may be secured by a corrugated disk i or by chains, rods, &c. to prevent turning of the turbine. Oscillations of the casing may be braked by dash-pot devices h. In a modification, the turbine generator is arranged directly on the condenser, the springs f connecting the two. The outlet pipe c may be supported by pillars k, Fig. 2. In a further modification, Fig. 3, the turbine member a is rigidly supported by foundation parts l, the outlet pipe c being made to yield in a longitudinal direction by means of corrugations m.
