7068. Knaster, I. March 22. Cosmetics ; shaving-appliances.-Consists in an appliance for expressing the contents of a gelatine or like capsule and applying the contents to the skin, comprising a seat or casing for the capsule and a plunger of complementary form so as completely to expel the contents of the capsule. A massage disk or other applying-means may also form an element of the combination. In the form shown in Fig. 2, a massage disk 1 formed with circular depressions, or grooves and ridges, or of other form, is provided with a detachable or integral seat 5 for an egg-shaped capsule 3. A handle 7 is attached to the seat 5 and carries a plunger 11 of form complementary to that of the seat. A pin 13 normally contained in the plunger rod may be used to perforate the capsule. In a modification, a hollow pin attached to the seat may be employed. Fig. 4 shows a modification in which a plunger 11<a> works in a tube 7<a>. The seat 5<a> is detachable and may be replaced by a seat combined with a massage member or, as shown in Fig. 7, by a fitting comprising a member 1<a> for applying shaving-soap and a safety razor 20, 21. In any of the modifications, the capsules employed may be made thin at one end so as not to require puncturing, or, as shown in Fig. 4, they may be formed with a tubular extension 4 which projects through the applying-member and may be sheared off by means of the finger-nail. In further modifications, applying-members with more than one outlet passage may be employed for use with ordinary capsules or to accommodate capsules formed with a number of tubes 4 ; or means may be provided for extruding the contents of more than one capsule. The plungers of the various instruments may be screw-operated so that the contents of the capsules may be expelled gradually during the treatment. The instrument may be employed for applying cosmetics to the skin.
