Lighting burners by frictional devices. - Pyrophoric alloys for use in lighting miners' lamps contain one or more of the metals tin, zinc, lead, or cadmium, and one or more rare earth metals. The emission of sparks may be controlled by the addition of other metals such as aluminium, calcium, and magnesium.
