Abstract
28,191. Wakefield, C. C. Dec. 14. Single-acting suction-valveless piston pumps; rod guides; regulating delivery by accumulator on pump barrel.-Relates to lubricators of the type in which a single-acting pump is contained within the oil-reservoir. The reciprocating head D of the plunger is actuated by the eccentric B, and has attached to it a sleeve G, which uncovers ports F<1> in the cylinder walls F at the same time as does the plunger E. The reciprocating head is guided by means of a groove D' in its walls and a round-headed screw P in the reservoir-wall. In order to regulate the amount of oil forced out, a plunger J<1> is provided, the back-thrust of which is regulable by means of the screw M. In this way, some of the oil, before being forced through the non - return valve K<1>, may depress this plunger through a known distance, the oil already contained in L' being forced back into the reservoir through passages H<3>.
