Abstract

Open fire-places; ash-pits; hearths; trivets; combined solid fuel and gas stoves.-A pit C formed at the rear of the hearth to enable ashes to be cleared has a metal shield B with a lip to protect the hearth. A loose trivet E covers the pit, being supported by a back G and legs F, and serves to regulate the air supply beneath the grate. The invention may be applied to a combined coal and gas fire as described in Specification 16,615/11, the trivet E supporting the burners beneath a hinged Hap or perforations.
