Abstract
25,592. Archer, L. Nov. 16. Rotary-mould-table machines; feeding and measuring.-Relates to a machine for producing blocks faced on all six sides. Three moulds 10, 11, 12 are mounted so as to rotate about a central pivot and are brought, in turn, beneath a filling-device 19 and a pressing-ram 7 and over an ejecting-ram. The filling-device comprises a feed - shoot 19 arranged beneath a hopper 17 containing body material, the feed of which is controlled by slides 29, 30, fitted with racks 32, 32<1> engaging with hand-operated pinions 33, 33', and a second hopper 34 containing facing-material which is delivered through a regulatable outlet 35 on to an inclined slide 40 which works through the shoot 19. In the machine illustrated, the slides 29, 30, 40 are formed of T-irons. The slide 40 is reciprocated by a screw 42 passing through a lug 41, and delivers the facing-material into a hopper 17<a> just above the mould 10, from which it passes into the mould. Removable partitions 20, controlled by a cord 26, are inserted into the mould to separate the facing-material 3, Fig. 20, from the body material 2. In operation, a mould is brought beneath the shoot 19, and the partitions 20 are lowered therein. The slide 29 is withdrawn to allow the body material to fall on to the slide 29, and is again closed; Facing-material is then fed from the hopper 34 on to the slide 40, which is gradually withdrawn upwards through the shoot 19 by the screw 42, causing the material to be deposited partly within the hopper 17<a>, whence it passes between the sides of the moulds and the partitions 20, and partly upon the bottom of the mould, as indicated in Fig. 18. When the slide 40 has withdrawn completely through the shoot 19, the slide 29 is withdrawn to deposit the body material 2, the slide 40 being then moved downwards again to fill up the spaces between the partitions 20 and the mould sides and also to deposit a layer of facing-material upon the top of the body material, as indicated in Fig. 20. The partitions 20 are then withdrawn and the mould advanced to the pressing position. Modifications of the machine are illustrated in which the mould and shoot 19 are divided to form a number of blocks simultaneously and also for producing hollow blocks.
