Abstract

3214. Lea, N. Feb. 8. Reflector signals.-Relates to a reflecting device for signalling, or for use as a danger signal for cycles and the like. Fig. 4 shows a form suitable for signalling purposes. A hollow conical reflector 2 with an interior angle of 90 degrees is mounted in a cylindrical casing 8 carrying at the other end a semi-transparent screen 11, and a shield 13 to protect the operator from the beam of light. At the apex of the reflector there is a small hole 10 fitted with a piece of very slightly opaque glass, so that the screen 11 has a slight general illumination together with a bright image of the hole 10. In order to direct the reflector towards the distant station, this image is made to fall at the centre of the ring 12 on the screen 11. The front of the reflector is closed by a transparent screen 5 in front of which different coloured sheets of glass may be moved for signalling purposes. As applied to vehicles, the conical reflector is mounted in a casing attached to the vehicle by a bolt carrying a spring clip.
