Abstract
2776. Kr³ger, C. H., and Collinson, C. W. Feb. 3. Signal, vehicular, and like lanterns.-Lamps for motor-vehicles, signalling, and other purposes, are provided with three or more ports and reflectors arranged at any angle to each other, other than those of ninety and forty-five degrees, and beams of light from these ports fall on reflectors which reflect them forwards. Fig. 2 represents both a vertical and an horizontal section of a spherical lamp having five ports, three of which, P, P', P<2> occur in each section. Reflectors R<3>, R', R<5> are situated in the lamp opposite the ports, and are adjusted by screws such as S, and are formed from the metal which is cut from the sphere to form the ports. Lenses, such as L, L<1>, L<2>, may be situated in or near the ports, and others may he used in conjunction with reflectors, such as M<1>, for throwing the light forwards. When lenses L &c. are used, the light that falls on the part of the reflectors R<3> &c. immediately behind them is either reflected back through the source of light B by supplementary reflectors R<Î>, Fig. 3, or is reflected by a conical reflector F, Fig. 4, to the outer portions of the reflector R<3> &c. to increase the illumination therefrom. The reflectors M &c., Fig. 6, may be adjustably carried by relatively-slidable rods C, D<1>, H and clamps C<1>, D, &c., and may be rotatably connected to the steering-gear of the vehicle.
