Abstract

1640. Weis, W. C., and Pierce, P. B. Jan. 21. Book-cases.-In a sectional bookcase of the kind in which each section comprises a bottom piece 1, end pieces 2 hinged to the bottom piece so that the lower surfaces of the end and bottom pieces are flush, and a detachable back piece, the bottom piece forming the top of the next lower section, the ends are hinged to the bottom by hinges of the kind consisting of a plate 3 bent at rightangles, the portions 5, 6 of the plate being pierced for the reception of fixing-screws and a pivot pin respectively. The hinges are fixed to the bottom piece 1 and pass through coincident keys 3<a>, 3<b> in the meeting faces of the bottom and end pieces. A pivot pin 9 is driven through a hole 8 in the end piece.
