Abstract
1624. Allen, F. A. Jan. 21. Actuating.-A lift valve, particularly adapted for use with hose-pipes, comprises a loose ball e adapted to be normally held by fluid pressure against a seating c in the outlet d. To open the valve, the ball is pushed from its seat by a spring-pressed plunger f into a recess bout of the line of flow. To close the valve, the casing is tilted to cause the ball to roll into the line of flow, whereupon the fluid pressure presses the valve against its seat.
