Abstract

1536. Ermekeil, H. R. E. Jan. 20. Blowpipe burners; burners, adjusting.-In a blow-pipe for severing plates, tubes, and other metal articles, of the type in which a pair of nozzles for the flame and oxygen respectively operate on each side of the work, the two pairs being adjustable towards each other, the oxygen nozzle is arranged substantially concentric with the flame nozzle. The oxygen for combustion passes through the valve d and pipe d<1>, and is mixed at c' with the combustible gas, the mixed gases then passing through the annular passage f in the nozzle e. This nozzle has an inner tube g, for supplying the oxygen for severing purposes, which passes up the tube a through the valve b. The nozzles e, one of which carries wheels h for moving on the work are adjustable towards each other by one or more pairs of cross-links i, which are pivoted at j to collars fixed by screws p and also to collars k fixed in the required position by screws o, the links being connected by a bolt and nut n.
