Abstract

628. Davis, S. J. Jan. 10. [Cognate Application., 16,916/11.] Contents, delivering , etc.; card cases.- A hinged two-part case for cigarettes, cigars, cards, watches, needles, &c. has one or more holders C, hinged to the side or sides A, B, along a line perpendicular to the case-hinge 1, the holder or holders being adapted to turn automatically outwards when the case is opened. The holder, shown fitted in the part B consists of a crossplate 3 having a lower part 4 hinged at 5 to the case part B, the ends of the cross-plate being bent over and connected by an elastic band &c. 8, between which and the cross-plate, the cigarettes &c. are loosely held. The tilting of the holder on the opening of the case is effected by a two-armed lever D mounted on the hinge 1; when the case is fully opened, the holder becomes tilted into the position shown in Fig. 4. In a modification, the hinge 5 is formed as a stop-hinge, and the tilting is effected by means of a bow-shaped spring secured to the base part 4 and arranged with its ends bearing against the end of the case part B.
