Gas cooking-stoves.- A gas-heated kitchen range comprises an oven and boiler adapted to be heated by an incandescent gas fire in the grate, or by burners inside the oven and beneath the boiler. A grilling - apparatus is fitted to the front of the grate, and all parts are constructed so as to facilitate assembling them in place or dismantling them for packing and warehousing. The range, shown in Fig. 2 with its doors, front, top, and grate removed, is built of walls e, f, &c. secured to a base or tray g by lugs 14 and to each other by flange joints. The oven k rests on baffles l, m, n cast with the base g, and its back end fits into a square formed by flanges raised upon the surface of the back plate. The boiler y is L-shaped in plan, and is supported above a burner z by flanges 15 on the walls &c. The boiler partly encloses the fire, which is heated by front and side burners 3, 4, shown in plan in Fig. 5, supplied with gas by independent taps &c. The oven may be heated by gases passing round the oven from the fire as shown by the arrows, and thence to the outlet i; but, alternatively, it may be heated by the burners p. In this case, air is supplied to the oven through the apertures r, s in the oven bottom and the base g, and the oven is ventilated by means of the aperture q in its roof. The gases pass into the top oven flue between the baffles x, and round the oven to the outlet i. The air inlet through the apertures r, s and the outlet through the aperture q is controlled by plates u, t movable on guide-pins u<1>. They are connected by levers v, and are operated by a finger-piece u<3>. The griller, Figs. 6 and 7, consists of a box with a top lid, flanges 12 for upholding a bar 11 fitted with hooks, and a tray 13. Flanges on its rear sides slide in flanges or beadings 7 on the front of the fire-place, and a forked lever 9 enables the griller to be fixed in front of the fire. To effect this, the griller is raised into position, and the lever 9 is moved aside until one of the branches 8 enters one of two apertures in the cross-bar beneath the grate front.
