Abstract

Reservoirs.-Ferro-concrete reservoirs and like chambers are made in separate slabs jointed together by recessed extensions on the said slabs, spaces being left which are filled with cement and mortar. Fig. 1 is a section through a reservoir, the bottom plate a being formed with a recess e into which the side plates b are inserted, the base of the recess being larger than the opening at the top. Notches g are formed in the side plates, and recessed portions h in the bottom plate. When the parts are assembled, spaces f are formed, at the side of which recesses exist so that the mortar &c. which is rammed in cannot be displaced. Fig. 2 shows a method of jointing single plates to form walls larger in extent than a single plate. The plates are formed with engaging hook-like ends which, when assembled, form the recesses f. Iron rods may be inserted in these recesses. Fig. 3 represents the joints of two plates meeting at the corners. The plate containing the recessed part is formed with two recesses i, and the plate b is also formed with two recesses, two spaces f being thus formed. The reservoir may be lined by coating the plates before assembling with suitable material, the edges and corners being finished off after the reservoir is erected.
