Wire and cord strainers.-A device for straining the cord of a tennis net consists of a bifurcated lever 3, Figs. 1 and 2, pivoted to the top of the post 2, and to the free end of which the cord 5 is attached. By depressing the lever, the cord is stretched, and since the cord rests between the pivots 13 and the post, the lever is held firmly against the post. A roller 11 on the post prevents the cord from fraying, and projections 9, 10 on the post and lever, respectively, serve as guides for the rope.
