Abstract
7209. BrÚguet, L. Oct. 28, 1908, [Convention date]. Balancing automatically by oppositely tilting wings connected in pairs. The lateral balance of an aerial machine is maintained by so connecting the sustaining-wings that a variation in wind pressure deflecting the wing on one side is balanced by an equal and opposite deflexion of the wing on the other side. The main ribs a of the wings may for this purpose (1) be differentially geared as shown in Fig. 1, or (2) be provided with arms f, Fig. 2, connected with a pivoted beam h; or (3) these arms may be connected to a continuous belt running over pulleys, or (4) a belt may run over pulleys mounted on the ribs a. Planes, construction of.-The fabric &c. of the wings is preferably supported by cross-ribs b, Fig. 7, mounted with limited spring-controlled movement on the rib a.
