Abstract

579. Tuck, W. B. Jan. 9. Spinning - tackle. - Relates to spinning - bait constructed so as to obviate twisting action on the fishing-line by the opposing action of right and left handed spinners, three forms being described. The body a, Fig. 1, weighted at the bottom, is fixed on a rod b, to the end b<1> of which the line is attached. A head - piece c carrying hooks e is adapted to be rotated on the rod b by means of vanes d, while a tailpiece f, also mounted on the rod b, rotates in the opposite direction under the action of reversely-set vanes g. Hooks j are attached to the end b<2> of the rod b or to the tail-piece f. The hooks e may be attached to the body a instead of to the head-piece c. In the bait shown in Fig. 2, the body k is that of a real fish, which is weighted at k<1> and is impaled on a rod l. Hollow head and tail pieces n, o carrying vanes n<1>, o<1> rotate in opposite directions. In order to allow the body k to be placed in position, the rod l is formed in two parts screwing together at l<1>, a plate m<1> being removable. Hooks p' are secured to a plate m, and hooks p to the tail-piece o. The hooks p may alternatively be attached to the rod l, in which case the rod l is divided immediately in front of the plate m', which is then a fixture on the after part of the rod. Fig. 3 shows an artificial bait in which the body is formed of two parts q, r provided with reversely-set rotating-vanes q<1>, r<1> respectively.
