Abstract

7698. Boult, A. J., [Du Faur, J. B.]. April 2. Copper, obtaining ; self exciting processes.-Copper is extracted from acid or neutral solutions of its sulphate or chloride or both of these salts, by immersing in the solution, which must contain ferric sulphate or chloride, or both, plates of copper alternating and in contact with masses of metallic iron, for instance scrap iron ; copper is deposited on the copper plates. Plates of carbon or graphite may be substituted for the copper plates. Any gold or silver present is also precipitated.
