Abstract

1601. Murray, F. T., and Carter, J. Jan.22. Breech actions, sliding breech-block.-Relates to automatic pistols with stationary barrel or recoiling breech-block. The barrel is connected to the body by a bolt, which can be engaged or disengaged by a movement of the trigger-guard, the trigger being blocked by the disengaged bolt. Fig. 2 is sectional view showing the barrel-locking bolt in its disengaged position. The upper end of the bolt - e normally engages in the recess e<3> in the base of the barrel a, and is disengage by turning down the connected triggerguard d pivoted at its port end d<1>. The barrel and breech-slide can then be disconnected from the body by sliding them forward. The trigger g is blocked, when the bolt is disengaged, by the bolt e being moved forward by the cam surface e<4> at the bottom of the recess for the bolt. The trigger-guard and bolt are retained in the locking positon by a catch f, which engages in a recess of the body. In one modification, the trigger-guard itself acts as a spring for returning the bolt to its locking position. Or a separate spring i, such as is shown in Fig. 13, may be employed, the trigger-guard having an additional bolt j which-engages in a recess j<2> of the barrel.
