18,889. Weman, K. Aug. 23. Telephones.- Relates to improvements in the switch and insulation of the handle of telephones. The switch consists of a shallow trough 10 with an extension 11 open at the end near the part 10 and curving up at 12 and having view openings 37. Three insulated spring contacts 16, 17, 18, secured by bolts to the base of the channel 10 and joined to terminals 33 for the wires 34, pass through the open end of the trough 11. The springs 17, 18 and the bottom of the case 11 carry contact points 19. The spring 17 ends in a hook 17<a> engaging an insulating lever 23 attached at one end to a spring 25 secured to the channel 10, and at the other end to an adjustable screw 31. In a modification, the switch has only the hooked spring contact. The switch is inserted in a slot 2 in the handle 1, and is secured to the supporting tube 3 of the transmitter 4 by a screw 30 passing through a lug 29 on the case 11, thus making contact between the transmitter and switch casing. The supporting tube 6 of the receiver 7 is attached to the handles by a screw 36, and an insulating ring 37<1> is placed over the screw 36 and round the handle 1 and is widened out at 37<a> to allow for movement of the lever 23.
