Abstract
8424. Ughetto, C. April 7. Roller mills'; mills and-apparatus.-Apparatus for grinding earth or clay &c. consists of four rollers revolving as indicated in Fig. 1, the upper pair] E, E<1> being of larger diameter than and revolving faster than the lower pair I, I<1>. A preliminary grinding takes place in the feed-hopper A by pallet-wheels B, C, the wheel B having four pallets engaging with the eight pallets of the wheel C. The crushed clay passes out between the rollers E, I and E', I'. The upper rollers are provided with scrapers F, F<1>, and the lower rollers are carried by counterbalanced or spring-pressed levers J, J<1>. The rollers are driven by belts passing over pulleys L, L', Fig. 2, and M, M', respectively, and returning over pulleys N, N' mounted on levers O, O<1> carried by axles P, P<1>.
