Abstract
1336. Holland, A. Jan. 18. Unloading; conveyers.- In an apparatus :Eor discharging the contents of vessels, warehouses, &c., a series of endless-band conveyers A, B are disposed side by side enclosed in casings extending along the length of the floor. The inside conveyers B feed directly into elevators G, which discharge by a common opening J to a conveyer K adjustable in inclination. The outside conveyers A feed the elevators G by short transverse bands enclosed in similar casings and driven from the shaft W<1> of the longitudinal conveyers by bevelgear E. The upper faces of the casings upon which the material rests are constituted by a number of hinged doors M, which, when closed as shown, rest on the curved bases of triangularshaped pieces Q. These pieces are rotated about their apices by levers 0 so that one rectilinear edge rests upon flanges K<2> extending longitudinally of the conveyers inside the casings and serving to retain the bands in position. The doors then fall so as to rest upon the other rectilinear edges of the pieces Q. The transverse conveyers are provided with similar doors. The whole apparatus is simultaneously driven from the winding-engine of the boat or the like. In operation, the doors over the transverse belts are first opened so as to discharge one end of the hold. A man then enters and operates in succession the various doors until the whole cargo is removed. According to the Provisional Specification, the cargo below the belt is removed by a two-ended plough. The conveyer K is rotatable about its avis T', and its outer end is supported at the required inclination by the shackle of a derrick.
