Door holders.-A metal tube or plunger g has a wooden or other plug h at its upper end connected to the door handle, and a rubber or other plug i at its lower end which is normally spring - pressed into engagement with the floor. A rod, preferably screw - threaded, passes through the plug h, to which it is secured, to project through the screw or other cover l of the casing f secured to the bottom of the door by its plate e. A wire &c. s connects the hook r of the rod to the sheave c, which turns with the spindle a. The upper end of the wire connexion s is divided and fastened to opposite sides of the sheave c, so that, by tqrning the handle either way, the plunger g is raised against the spring p. The distance through which the plug can be forced by the spring may be adjusted by the nut q, which can also put the holder out of action. The holder can also be put out of action by means of a screw swivel u, or by a ring attached to the wire which can be placed over a pin at the right height to hold the plunger inoperative. The wire may be enclosed in a tube, or, together with the tubef, placed in a hole in the material of the door ; or a pneumatic arrangement may be substituted for the spring.
