Abstract

17,390. Max, R. Aug. 28. Air-heating stoves.-Air-heating chambers for stoves and furnaces are formed of internally-ribbed metal pipes, fitting into upper and lower rectangular chambers. In the construction shown in Fig. 2, two metal pipes A are provided with grooves 4 at their ends, into which fit projections 5 on the lower chamber B and the upper chamber C, the joint being completed with a cement or similar material. The front wall 6 of the upper part C is made removable and is provided with ribs on its inner face to increase the beating-surface. Fig. 9 shows the arrangement of the heating-chambers in a stove. Cold air enters at openings 9 in the walls of the stove and leaves at openings 12. The lower joint is preferably arranged just below the grate, and the lower chambers B may contain water for moistening the air, A layer 15 of broken stone is built between the heating-chambers and the walls of the stove.
