Abstract
1072. Gerow, R., and Grerow, G. H. Jan. 19. Incandescent lamps, which can be easily opened to permit renewal of the filaments, are constructed as shown. The open end of the bulb B is made with a bead, and is cemented or otherwise fastened in a ring b<1>, which is screwed on a metal cap a, with a rubber gasket B' to 'make the joint tight ; the cap a contains a porcelain body A', formed as shown in section, and provided with a central hole containing a conical valve 8, to seal the lamp after exhaustion through the hole. The outer end of the hole in the porcelain contains a sleeve to receive a screw plug 10, forming a central contact. The leading-in wires pass through the porcelain, and the filament is held in contact with them by screws in rings A<4>, on parts of the porcelain insulator.
