Abstract

190,449. Chicago Flexible Shaft Co., (Assignees of Roach, F. E.). Dec. 15, 1921,. [Convention date]. Spraying - machines; rotary apparatus.-A sprinkler, more particularly for watering gardens, comprises a revolubly mounted waterarm carrying one or more nozzles provided with means for individually adjusting both for volume and direction of the spray, locking means being provided for fixing the adjustable parts in relation to the fixed parts. A cone-plate 10, Fig. 1, carries a hollow fitting 12 carrying a tube 15, Fig. 3, on which a hub 16 carrying arms 20 is rotatably mounted. The hub 16 may be locked in any position by means of a screwed ring 18 provided with a handle 19. Each of the arms 20 has screwed thereto a nozzle 21 each comprising angularly disposed parts 22, 23 and provided with a spray opening 24, Fig. 4, a spring 26<a> being mounted between a shoulder 26 and the top of the pipe 20. The nozzle is provided with a conical regulating-valve 29 mounted on a spindle 30 attached to a screwed plug 31, the outer end 32 of which is unthreaded and fits the bore 28, a spring being provided, as shown. Each of the nozzles 21 is provided with two slotted hollow bosses 34, Fig. 6, communicating with the interior of the nozzle to form fanshaped sprays. When the tube 16 is not locked by the plate 18, the nozzles 21 may be turned so that the arms rotate under the action of the jets 21; or the apparatus may be locked and the nozzles 21 turned to direct the sprays in various directions.
