Abstract
14,335. Saunders, D. G. June 25. Sash fastenings. - The fastening consists of two parts A, B screwed to the meeting rails of the sashes. The part A on the upper sash consists of the vertical catch-bar 14, strengthened by the rib 17, and the two lugs 18, 19 one on each side of the bar 14. The part B on the lower sash consists of the hollow casing 30, in which is pivoted the spring catch 35, and the two caps 37, 38 which are adapted to fit over the lugs 18, 19 of the piece A. The catch 35 engages with the recesses 15, 16 of the catch-bar 14, which may be as long as desired. The pieces A, B are formed with the ledge 23<a> and the recess 29<a>, Fig. 2, respectively, which engage together and, with the lugs 18, 19 and their caps 37, 38, hold the two sashes firmly together and prevent unauthorized opening.
