Abstract
11,771. Craven, R. E. P. May 21. Tyres, pneumatic.-To prevent slipping and puncture, the tyre is surrounded with a ribbed cover built up of links placed parallel to one another longitudinally on the tyre. The links 1, Figs. 3 and 4, and smaller distance-pieces 3 are built up to the width of the tyre and secured by rivets 6 between the sideplates 4. The elements so formed are joined together by connectors 7 riveted between the projected ends of the links 1. To prevent the cover from creeping, the links are provided on the inner surface with projections 2, which press into the tyre. A side view of the cover in sit¹ is shown in Fig. 2. The elements may be made in one piece, and may ba joined together with the rivets &c. with or without links, connecting prongs 5, Figs. 11 and 14, being formed within or projecting beyond the ends.
