Abstract
21,580. Hewer, A. E. Oct. 7. Brewing; hops, treating.-Hops to be infused or extracted, are placed in a cylinder A, provided with a manhole I or a removable top. Wort or beer, during or after fermentation, is pumped continuously or intermittently through the inlet pipe D, and is distributed by a perforated pipe E, or by a perforated plate, or a sparger. After rising through the strainer G, it passes out by the pipe H. The cylinder may be fitted with agitators or made to revolve. The hops are afterwards boiled in coppers.
