Abstract

Exhaust, freeing from grease etc.; condensers.-In apparatus for enabling a supply of hot purified water to be obtained from exhaust steam, two chambers are employed, one to retain the grease, the other to condense the steam. In the first chamber A, steam enters bv the inlet B, and is forced against baffle-plates C, after which it passes by the outlet G to the second chamber H, meeting there a cold water spray K. The steam is thus condensed and collects in the chamber H. An overflow pipe N, and an escape pipe 0, for steam are provided. Manholes M, L are made to allow the apparatus to be cleaned. The grease &c. which collects in the chamber A is drawn off through pipes below. The apparatus may be arranged horizontally, as in Fig. 1, or vertically, as in Fig. 2. There may be one or several baffle-plates, and the division between the two chambers may be vertical or inclined.
