Catches, gravity and spring; latches; locks, key; door-holders.-A door latch or catch 14 is pivoted between the flange 6 of a base-plate 4 and a casing 12, which is suitably attached to the flange, the catch falling by gravity towards the end provided with the shoulder 17. On the plate 4 is mounted a casing 8 provided with a sliding bolt 9, operated by a key, or by hand for locking the latch 14. The latch-fitting is attached to the door 1, as shown in Fig. 1, the shoulder 17 automatically engaging with a square bolt 19 on the jamb or framework, when the door is closed. When the door is opened, the shoulder 18 of the latch engages with a staple 20 on the framework to hold the door open.
