Abstract
4202. Podmore, T., Berry, T., Green, J., and Ince, T. Feb. 23. Rock drills.-In a rotary hand and other power drill, the screwed spindle N, carrying the drill, passes through a divided feed-nut O, and has an end, which is enlarged or feathered to engage the inner tube G, driven by bevel gear L and a handcrank or motor. When the spindle has advanced to its full length through the feed-nut, its end emerges from the driving-tube, and drilling stops. The tube G may be made in halves. It turns in the barrel A, which supports the feed-nut and gear, and has a pointed end, flange, or clamp for supporting it in position.
