Abstract
22,080. Cleathero, B. T. Oct. 10. Feeding sheets.-Relates to the sheet-lifters of pneumatic apparatus for feeding sheets to printing and other machines. For lifting and separating thin sheets, the month 8 of the lifter 1 preferably has a greater curvature than it has for thick sheets. The curvature is made adjustable, so that the same lifter may be used for sheets of various thicknesses, by resilient plates 3 attached by means of lugs 4 at the ends of the mouth 8. These plates are adjustable by screws 7 in lugs 6 on the lifter. The lifter is connected, as usual, to an air-suction device. The mouth 8 and plates 3 are faced with rubber 9. Fig. 1 shows the plates adjusted for thin sheets, and Fig. 3 for sheets of maximum thickness. The plates may be fixed by screws 5, as shown, or they may be hinged and spring pressed, or otherwise attached.
