9407. Smith, W., and Smith, J. April 23. Gas burners.-Relates to gas heating-burners or apparatus for heating rooms, cooking, and the like. A burner adapted for use in an ordinary fireplace or grate is shown in sectional plan in Fig. 2, and in vertical section through A-A, Fig. 2, in Fig. 3. Fig. 4 shows the air and gas regulating means. The burner comprises the inner and outer coils a, b, in which the gas and air are mixed, the air-inlet case or box c projecting from the burner, the gas cock or valve d within the box c and having the arms h, h', adapted to be operated by a sliding door or plate e which moves over the open end of the box or case c, and the nozzles m superposed on the nozzles l with gauze diaphragms o, to prevent firing back, fitted in between the nozzles. The air plate e has an elongated aperture i through which the arm h<1> of the gas cock projects. The plate e is moved out or in through the rod j. There are two gas directing and distributing branches k on the cock d in the back part of the inner coil a, and the branches are provided with apertured caps k<1>. A central partition b<1> is disposed across the outer coil a at one end. A pilot tube p is provided. In a slightly modified form, the gas-supply pipe,f enters the burner from above and is attached to the upper end of the case of the gas cock.
