Abstract

5566. Zettwitz, W. F. March 16. Chairs.- Relates to means for converting an ordinary kitchen chair into a baby's high chair for sitting at table. A piece of wire is bent to form a hook A to engage over the chair back and is then bent downwards and outwards and cranked at B, its ends being soldered together a the centre of the chair back. A girdle is formed in two halves, each of which is bent from a piece of wire and has a pair of eyes to pivot on the parts C, C', a spring part E to go behind the outer spindles of the back, and a clasp part consisting of a hook G on two eyes I. When the child is inserted and the clasp is fastened, the parts E, E jam behind and in front of the outer and inner spindles of the back, and hold the parts rigid. In a modified form described in the Provisional Specification, the girdle consisted of a semicircular wooden ring pivoted to clips engaging the arms of the chair.
