Abstract

15,222. Offermann, H. L. Aug. 27. Burring-apparatus; carding-engines.-The wool is transferred by a roller b from the first main cylinder a to a doffer c, provided with rings of teeth. Between the rings of teeth on the doffer are arranged grid bars d, the upper edges of which are below the points of the teeth at the part opposite the roller b, but above them near the extremities of the bars, where the bars approach a blade m for preventing the burrs from being carried completely round by the doffer. Near the free ends of the grid bars, the fibres are held in the teeth of the doffer by a brush k, while the burrs retained by the blade m are completely removed by a rotating or oscillating beater f. e is a blade for applying a certain tension to the fleece as it leaves the roller b ; and i indicates grid bars for raising the fibres from the toothed rings of the doffer whereby their transfer by the roller g to the second main cylinder h is facilitated.
