10,895. Ewing, B. June 15. Spigot-and-socket joints for stoneware, sewage, and other pipes. The joint is an improvement on the joint described in Specification No. 9360, A.D. 1891. The socket is formed with the annular shoulder A, having the raised part, saddle, or rest B at the lower part to secure an even smooth invert. The annular recess E receives clay or other plastic material, and the space F plastic cement or other material. When it is desired to use liquid cement, two or more holes G, Fig. 3, are provided for pouring in the grouting material, and the annular shoulder H, with its lower part forming a saddle, serves to retain the cement.
