Wardrobes.-A wardrobe is made extensible, so as to fit any size of recess in a room, by having an extra end piece 1 with projecting pieces 2 sliding in suitable guides in the main part. Sliding rods 4, 5 serve for hanging up garments and for a curtain which is used to close up the front of the extension, which runs on castors 6. The wardrobe is fitted with a trouser press, which consists of a fixed top board 8 and a movable platen 13 carried on a tube 14 sliding in a cylinder 16 and pressed upwards by a cord passing over pulleys and connected to a lever 22 which is acted on by another lever 25 having a pawl engaging a fixed ratchet 28. The lever 25 has a hinged extension which may be turned up out of the way. The lever 25 may be on the end of the wardrobe, and be covered by a hinged door 7, which also hides the curtain when the extension is pushed in. The platen 13 may be guided by tubes sliding on rods, and be moved upwards by a chain passing over a pulley and connected to a toothed sector on a shaft on the end of which is a handle with pawl engaging a fixed toothed sector. When a handpress is used, as in Fig. 6, the nut 41 is on a crosspiece 42 adjustable in notches 43 to suit different thicknesses to be pressed.
