Abstract

24,897. Bastin, P. Nov. 25. Carding-engines. - Two main carding-cylinders A, B are arranged one above another as shown, and are stripped by a common doffer C. Fibre may be supplied to each cylinder independently by the feeding-apparatus K, L, M, N, &c., or a portion of the carded material on the cylinder A may be transferred by the rollers D, E to the cylinder B, and there further treated before it is doffed at the point V, the fibres remaining on the cylinder A being raised by the fancy F and doffed at the point T. The fleece is thus formed in layers on the doffer, which are simultaneously removed by the doffing-comb X. When fibres of different colours are fed to the cylinders, fancy fleeces and slivers are produced.
