Abstract

Straight-tube apparatus; overheating of superheating-tubes, preventing.-In a water-tube boilar comprising two lower water drums a having a furnace between them, and two upper steam and water drums b parallel thereto but nearer together and connected by steam pipes n to a common steam drum d arranged between them, the generating tubes e being arranged as shown and the drum d being divided by two or more longitudinal partitions h into three or more compartments connected by superheating tubes g which lie over one set of generating tubes and cross the other set, a valved connection is provided between a part of the steam outlet'pipe beyond the steam drum and the steam and water drums and the compartments of the steam drum receiving steam therefrom. The valve p which is situated between the steam stop valve r and the stearn drum d has connections o on the top side of the valve with the pipes n. The superheating tubes g are connected at one end to drums f having pipe connections l to the drums a provided with flooding valves m. When the superheating tubes are to be used as generating tubes, the valves m and p are opened. The valve p may also be utilized for mixing saturated and superheated steam.
