Abstract
187,356. Taylor, A. M. Aug. 4, 1921. Addition to 170,619. Polyphase systems; systems depending on the use of static transformers.-In a long distance transmission system employing superposed currents the number of cables in circuit is varied in accordance with the load. Three six-phase systems are supplied by a group SUT<3>, of transformers and a three-phase current is superposed on these systems by two transformers P<1>S<1>, P<2>S<2>. Upon a decrease of load the transformer P<1>S<1> is switched out and upon a further decrease the transformer P<2>S<2> is switched out. Upon further decreases of the load the independent transformers of the group SUT<3> are separately switched out. The charging current of the line is reduced during the switching on of the current by switching in the various transformers in the inverse order to that in which they are switched out with decreasing load.
