Washing-machines with swinging squeezers in stationary receptacles; washing-boards. - The squeezing agitator 3 oscillated to press the clothes against two surfaces in turn, is pivoted at c and carries on a lower framework vacuum-washers 6. 6<a> by means of which the clothes are squeezed against surfaces 7, 8 supported between guides f, g, f<1>, g<1>. The agitator may be operated by a lever handle 4, or from the handle of a wringer attached to the washing-machine, through the medium of a yielding link (not shown) having an adjustable spring for varying the pressure on the clothes. The agitator with the lid is removable, and the surfaces 7, 8 may be moved to a vertical position where they may be used as rubbing-board.
