Coal-cutting machines.-In a machine in which the body is mounted on adjustable supports whereby it may be tilted laterally or longitudinally or both, the body a is rotatably mounted at the cutter end in a ring c with trunnions d engaging buckets e on framesupporting members m, while laterally-disposed adjustable supports b are placed at the haulage end of the body. The supports b may comprise screws b<2> with ball ends engaging bearings l<2> secured to the members m, the screws engaging nuts b<1> with ball ends engaging the body a: worm gearing f, driven by laterally-projecting spindles h, rotates the nuts. One of the nuts engages a boss i on the body, the boss permitting tilting about the trunnions d but giving rigid lateral support. Lubricating- means a<2>, b<3>, are provided.
