Dust &c., excluding.-A device for excluding dust, water, or the like from a, ball or other bearing comprises annular plates 4, 7 mounted by rings 3, 6 on inner and outer rings 1, 5 respectively, the plates having small clearances with respect to the rings 6, 3 respectively. When the parts are assembled, they are secured by turning over the edges of the rings 1, 5 or by soldering the ends of the rings 1, 5. The space between the plates may be filled with felt, fibre, or an amalgam. One of the rings 1, 5 is secured to a fixed part of the machine and the other is mounted on the rotating part.
