Abstract
184,879. Howard, L. C. B. May 20,1921. Jet-wheels; cooling and heating parts; blades. -The turbine casing, consisting of a central annular portion 1 and circular side pieces 2, 3, is formed with annular cooling-water passages 9, 21, which connect between webs 8, 22, and have feed and exit pipes 13, 16. The rotor 29 and blades 32 dovetailed therein have cooling-water passages 39 - - 42, through which water fed from supplypipes 35 is circulated by centrifugal action. The pressure-fluid inlet port contains a nozzle and delivers the fluid tangentially to the blade sur faces. The turbine may be used with the powergenerator described in Specification 184,592, [Class 7 (i), Combustion-product &c. engines].
